The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
The Mighty Mighty BossToneS became the ambassadors of the 90s ska explosion by forging new territory and being one of the first, if not the first to cross high-energy ska with hardcore punk. Over a 30-year career Boston’s best dressed band has built and continue to build a devoted following with their unique brass-infused brand of punk rock.

The band started to make a lot of noise which garnered major label attention and in 1993, the BossToneS signed a major-label deal with Mercury Records and released Don't Know How to Party, and 1994 saw the band paying homage to their hardcore roots with a mini-album titled, Ska-Core, the Devil and More, as well as the full-length Question the Answers. A year later, the Boston boys were coerced into appearing in the film Clueless, which has since become a cult classic, performing "Where'd You Go," and "Someday I Suppose," two of their most popular songs to date; they also landed a main-stage slot on that summer's Lollapalooza tour.

In 1997, Let's Face It become the band's biggest-selling album to date; certified platinum, buoyed by the success of the anthemic "The Impression That I Get."

In 2003, with individual members already involved in other projects and the band essentially having toured non-stop since 1991, they announced they were going on hiatus. During this time, frontman Dicky Barrett became a staple as the announcer on ABC's late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Toots & The Maytals

The Bouncing Souls
The Bouncing Souls
Melodic "sing along" pop punk band from New Jersey, originally formed in 1987 while the band members were still in high school. In 1993, They formed Chunksaah Records to release their early material. After heavy touring they eventually signed a deal with BYO Records in 1995, re-releasing their original LP + their sophomore LP. In 1997 they signed to Epitaph, where they stayed until 2006. Following that, they released some more material through Chunksaah before signing to Rise Records for their ninth full-length.

The band was formed by Greg Attonito (vocals), Pete Steinkopf aka The Pete (guitar), Bryan Kienlen aka Papillon (bass) and Shal Khichi (drums). The lineup has stayed consistent with the exception of the drummer. Original drummer Shal Khichi was with them until 1999, when he left and was replaced with Michael McDermott (2). In 2013 McDermott left and was replaced by George Rebelo.

The Planet Smashers
The Planet Smashers
FLASHBACK!: The year was 1994 and the world was a very different place….A happy-go-lucky Bill Clinton presided over the free world; Ace of Base topped the music charts with their insipid reggae-inspired hit The Sign; cats had yet to take over the internet, men and women wore acidwashed overalls slung from one shoulder â la Joey from Friends; and a young band of ragtag miscreants released their first full-length to an unsuspecting public. In case you haven't been paying attention, that band was (and still is) The Planet Smashers.

Fast forward two decades, seven albums, one million records sold worldwide, six gazillion beers consumed, countless tours and one extremely blurry never-ending party to this futuristic and confusing present day. Who will save us from this current clusterfuck filled with beliebers, honey-booboos and bathroom selfies? Who will stand boldly in the face of the autotuned, deep-vee wearing douche chills crapping in the earholes of the world? Who will dare to play their own instruments while blasting out ska hooks so catchy you wish you could scoop them up and eat them like ice-cream?....You're goddamned right it's The Planet Smashers.

Mixed Messages is the 8th and arguably best long-player from our stalwart musical heroes. Combining their trademark concoction of two-tone ska, new wave, punkrock and pop sensibilities, The Smashers showcase their classic knack for writing immediately lovable tunes straight from the gut, all the while keeping their collective tongues planted firmly in their respective cheeks.
