Throwdown originated in the summer of 97' under the false pretense that all they'd ever amount to would be a local joke band. The five of them decided to come up with a band name that would roll off of people's tongue's because of its blatant tough character. Being that none of them were taller than 5'8, weighed more than 150 pounds, or had ever gotten into a physical fight, the band was still led to this calling in order to further the irony of their name. "Throwdown" was the name of this joke band project that eventually turned several heads and enabled them to get to where they are today. I'd like to say that they've matured a lot since then, both as musicians and as people. Throughout the course of this three-year stint, they've had several member changes; toured all over the country, released over 30 songs, and played for more people than they could've ever imagined. They've also made the transition from boys into adulthood and learned to grow together as a band rather than apart. Since then they've incurred so many new responsibilities that their parents feel it's time for them to leave this behind. But they won't. They all refuse to give up on this dream that they love so much. Some of their accomplishments (although they may seem trivial to you, the reader) have been some of the better highlights of their lives. Their first 7" single sold out in less than a year's time. Their first full length CD/LP "Beyond Repair" was distributed all over the world and allowed for them to talk with fans in India, Australia, all over Europe, and parts of Asia. This album also created the hype and demand that enabled them to leave our local following and tour the rest of the country. Playing shows across the country very quickly became their reality, not just a boyhood pipe-dream. They've put their songs on compilations with bands that they've looked up to as kids. On one of theiri most recent tours, they played a national hardcore/metal festival in Syracuse for over 2000 people. This set was so much fun, and will forever be etched in their memories as one of the best experiences of their lives. The future of Throwdown is very dependent on the events that take place in this coming year. They've all decided that they want to take this band to the next level and work toward it becoming their careers rather than just a hobby. They are all very dedicated to this idea and will work hard to achieve this lifestyle. They've been on a constant progressive cycle since the inception of the band and are still continuing to experiment with new sounds and ideas. Although they're nowhere close to where they'd all like to be, they are still constantly amazed at how far this band has taken them. If you're looking for heavy, aggressive music with a positive message, then take a listen to Throwdown. |
